Hello!  And welcome to rubymala... and yes, there is a ruby mala, which is the name for Buddhist prayer beads or rosary.  After getting in several meditations that I should get a ruby mala, I took it to heart and started my search for one.  My dear friends Allison and Anyen Rinpoche searched for one for me in Nepal and India, but none were to be found.  Then Antje Reiken, a friend in Boulder, Colorado who makes and repairs malas and who knew of my search, called me from the gem and mineral show a few years ago to tell me that she had found the string of rubies to make my mala for me!  There were 100 beads in the strand, and a mala needs 108 beads, so we also got a string of gold citrine beads to use placed as counter beads.  The ruby mala is most exquisite, and more so for having been blessed by several of my Tibetan teachers, including my root teacher, Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, and Anyen Rinpoche.  

Why rubies?  I am a mineral sensitive, and have worked with the mineral kingdom for many years.  Rubies relate to compassion, commitment, passion, creativity and love.  It is a stone that I resonate to strongly.  

I will be writing here about whatever comes up to write.  Much will arise from my passion about my explorations in music and sound, about healing, astrology, and about what I'm picking up in the energies around, and whatever else comes.
