September Astrology Highlights – “Dancing with the Stars”

September Astrology Highlights – “Dancing with the Stars”

By Janis Page   c2010

Amazing.   It’s already September, and while the hot weather is still with us, some leaves are starting to turn – and we are successfully looking back at the most intensive time of the cardinal square and energy shifts and reversals that have had us tap-dancing in minefields for so long.  Ok, it’s not completely dispersed, nor are all the effects clearly seen as yet.   There will be further activations, of course, but we really can take a breath here for a moment.

September begins with a hearty five retrograde planets, including Mercury in Virgo, inviting us to reflect, to consider what we might want to change, to redefine our goals and direction so we can set our intent with clarity of focus to move forward.   It isn’t always easy to carve out time for introspection, is it??   But taking time for integration is worth your while, and Sun and Mercury in mindful, discerning Virgo, with Venus and Mars joining serious Saturn in Libra adds a bit of grace, aesthetic, and neutrality to support such introspection.   We’re just coming out of a time of great awareness and breakthrough – how can you best integrate and embody your new awareness and potentiality?   Do you remember what we said last month?   The potential gifts for those willing to show up and do the work with an open heart and in unity consciousness are just as immense and profound!    There are many blessings here – hold that as your focus, and your right.

The Virgo new Moon on September 8th is the most gentle, mindful lunation we’ve seen in a while.   Of course, we still have our grand cardinal square with heavies Pluto, Saturn, now several degrees out, Jupiter, Uranus (now Rx back into Pisces, however) and uranian transneptunians Hades and Kronos, but Virgo softens it, and Venus and Mars in Libra trining Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius can be inspiring and creative.   Just five hours after the new Moon, Venus enters passionate Scorpio, and an hour later Jupiter also retrogrades back into Pisces to join Uranus there for the remainder of the year.   Both giants will reenter Aries next year.  Did you enjoy the preview of what their fiery enthusiasm will bring??

One pivotal time will be Sunday, September 12th as Mercury will station and turn direct, while Pluto is holding stationary for a week as that powerhouse resumes direct motion in Capricorn.    Then on the 13th, Mars will leave diplomatic Libra and join Venus in intense, passionate Scorpio.

The other major, pivotal time for the month is the autumn equinox when the Sun enters Libra, followed a quick six hours later by the harvest full Moon in Aries.   Let’s consider each chart to see their similarities and differences…

The equinox chart is always significant, as solstice and equinox charts set the tone for the year’s quarter they initiate when the Sun enters zero degrees of the cardinal signs.   Fall equinox is when the Sun is at zero degrees of Libra, this year on September 22 at 9:09pm MDT.   Here, the Sun is six degrees from and approaching Saturn, which has moved off the cardinal axis.   The Sun makes a close two degree transformative square to Pluto and exact square to Hades in Cancer (watch for more concerns about purity of foods, GMO, etc).   But in this equinox chart, the Moon is in Pisces, a mere one degree from and approaching Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces.    This powerful conjunction can be a time of gentle, expansive creativity, inspiration and vision.  It would be a wonderful time to meditate, consider where you are in your life, and where you want to go.   My favorite questions for such times are, “What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?”   “If you could completely make up your life, and whatever you wanted would be completely ok with everyone else – no ‘pocket vetoes’ – what would your life look like?  Where would you be living?   Inner city, mountains, near the ocean, on an island, another country??  Who, if anyone, would be there with you?   Would you have animals?   Travel a lot?   Work from home, or?   Are there creative passions you would allow yourself to explore and develop?”   People are often quite surprised by these questions, because we so often live our lives by following our routine and dealing with distractions.    Knowing what you want, who you are, what would fulfill you, would enable you to make decisions that will bring you closer to that attainment.

The full Moon mere hours later, at 3:17am on the 23rd, has the Moon at zero Aries opposing the Sun still fresh at zero Libra.   Time to light the fuse on that clarity of intent and integration, and get to it!   Enjoy the changing of the seasons, and peace and blessings to all.
